The Way We Write

Readers deserve to know how the pages they read are made. These are the habits we try to keep, on festival weekends and quiet weeks alike.

Starting from a real question

Topics come from what readers ask us, what we notice on the ground and what people search for when they plan a trip to the coast. If we cannot answer a question honestly, we leave it alone rather than pad out a page.

Checking before publishing

Rules for the reef, cenote etiquette, entry requirements and similar details are compared against official or first-hand sources. Where something varies or is uncertain, the article says so. We do not publish statistics we cannot trace, quotes nobody said or dates nobody confirmed.

Music writing

When we write about a rhythm or a style, we start from listening. Background reading helps, but the description should match what you will hear when the band starts.

Links in our articles

Some pieces link to external websites, including businesses. Those links sit inside the text where they are relevant, and our wording around them aims to stay fair and factual.

Corrections and updates

When a reader points out a mistake, we check it and fix the article. Older pieces are reread from time to time and refreshed when the facts on the ground have shifted.

Why the archive is broader than the beach

This site started around one small coastal festival and the town that hosts it, and that is still where most of our energy goes. Over the years the archive has also gathered pieces on health, home, money and hobbies.

We keep those older reads available and refresh them when they need it, so whatever brought you here, the page should still be useful.
